Paco...
The Lyrid meteor shower is tonight after midnight.

Chakolate...
I hope you see some. The light pollution here is far too high to see
anything so faint.

If the celestial phenomenon were bright enough to see over the city
lights, we still wouldn't be able to see it. Due to city ordinance,
Chicago is socked in for all celestial events - cloud cover is required.

david...
well, ya'll need to get up approx 2 AM to watch... so please take photos,
'cause i'll be asleep... very interesting stuff at

Goromoff...
I have a recommendation for weight loss that I would not offer to my worst
enemy, let alone you good people in here!

Five or six years ago, I went to the Doc for my annual checkup where he
tested everything that needed testing, and, finding that everything was
still attached as they should be,and after weighing me, went on to my
arthritis.

He gave me new tablets, saying that these should avoid the minor side
effects of the other stuff.

On getting home, I began the course. Whooooomph! IT started. Diarrhoea. The
Runs. The Trots. The Lurgy!

Of course, I took no more, but booked a return appointment. By the time I
was able to leave the house a couple of days later to see the Doc, I had
lost a little less than 2 stones (1 stone = 14lbs)

No, definitely NOT to be recommended! lol

Joy...
Yes, sometimes meds to stop side effects bring on worse side effects. I was
once taking something, I forget what. I told my doctor it made me dizzy, so
he prescribed Antivert. I took one tablet of Antivert with my morning
coffee (I drank it in those days), and my entire left side went numb. It
only lasted for a minute or so, but it scared the you-know-what out of me.
I took the Antivert and the pills that made me dizzy, and flushed all of
both down the toilet.

**Dalin**...
I bet there are people who, if they could lose 28 pounds in two or
three days, would take the course. I wouldn't though.

Jean B....
Gee, that's a rather precipitous drop. I will take your
advice and not do the same!

Jim Everman...
You don't want the 'diet' I'm on either (down to 132 pounds).

Joy...
No, that is definitely not the way to lose weight, and that's way too skinny
for you. Have you tried Ensure? I found it surprisingly good tasting when
a doctor recommended it briefly in the past.

Jean B....
I was thinking about your weight loss--either last night or

Phyllis Copp...
When we first moved from Boston to the country the stars amazed me, I had
never seen such bright, beautiful skies. There were always city lights to
hide them! I try never to miss a meteorite shower, and I always keep an eye
out for the Northern lights too.

Annie...
Thanks for the link David, made for an ineresting read...have sent it on to
a friend who lives in Covelo, CA...a small town out in the country in No CA.
..where you can see the stars quite well..know we will have cloud cover or
rain here in SF....would be interesting to view..How about you Paco?

Joy...
That is amazing, Annie! Most people have never even heard of Covelo. My
sister used to teach high school English there, many years ago.

early this morning. It would be good if you could arrest
that--but then you are aware of that, no doubt. :-(
I always miss the meteor showers, though I don't look until Aug. It's
always cloud covered here. :-( I never heard of the Lyrid showers.
Wonder if you can see them from NY? But it's cloud covered anyway.
Are you going to stay up Paco and try and see them?

Paco...
No, I have to sleep tonight. Didn't sleep very well last night.

**Dalin**...
Ever tried some warm milk before bed? I never have but it's supposed
to work.

Phyllis Copp...
I've never heard of the Lyrid showers either, I'll have to watch for them.
Living in the country we have a wonderful view of the ones in August. Have
you ever tried Benidril (sp) a couple of tablets before bedtime used to help
my husband when other meds wouldn't. It might be worth a try.
