Murphy's Law strikes again!

Joy...
After some beautiful, sunny weather, yesterday was chilly and rainy. Late
in the afternoon, my heater decided to go on strike. It was too late to
call anybody then. I managed to keep warm by layering, and my electric
blanket took care of the night. However, getting dressed when it's really
chilly is no picnic.

It's still chilly and very cloudy today, but no rain yet. I called and
actually found somebody who said they'd come out this afternoon. I told
them they'd better make it after 2:00, because I have to go to a memorial
service at noon. They didn't give me a window, as repairmen often do, they
just said it would be after 2:00. I hope it's soon after I get home.

hey, uh, murphy wouldn't like his name misused like that... :) he'd be
proud, though, that you had a backup plan.

Are the mechanical parts of your home going on strike? You've had more
than your share of repairs in the past few months.
Norma

Joy...
Yup. I think they're conspiring against me.

Jean B....
You have more problems, Joy, many of which have had to do with
heat. I hope this gets repairs expeditiously and
inexpensively--and that you get a long break from problems
thereafter.

Joy...
Thank you, Jean. The good news is, I have heat again. The man arrived
around 3:20, which wasn't bad. I had been told it would be after 2:00,
which left a lot of leeway. The bad news is, the problem, which has been
fixed, was caused by another problem which wasn't fixed. That will have to
be done next week. The whole thing, including today, will probably cost me
about $250. :-( Still, it's worth it to have heat when I need it.

Well, let this be the real end of such problems for a while.
There are more pleasant things to spend money on.

Joy...
Thanks, Jean.
The repairman is here now. He seems to be having trouble finding the
problem, although he thinks it may be the sensor (which was replaced a
little over a year ago).
