I was eating the rice that Rosa made on Friday. I saw some little black
spots on it. I thought maybe Rosa had burned some of the rice while
reheating. No, I looked a little closer and the little black spots had
little black LEGS!!! I wonder how many I ATE????

the good news is that this certainly improved the percentage of protein in
the meal. rice, on its own, contributes little to overall nutrition, so you
really scored a victory by getting these little bugs added for free... :)
i hope that you thanked rosa appropriately... :)

I have had that happen with bean soup in Florida. Cooked the soup and
even though I rinsed the beans carefully, some of those little critters rose
to the top of the soup. Doesn't happen up here in Georgia. But, I have had
little green worms in my romaine lettuce. Now I buy the "triple" rinsed
package.

Cornmeal has little black specks in it and if you look at them with a
magnifying glass, they have legs, too. LOL

surely, the time to worry is when the rice walks itself over to the plate!

There is something to be said or those of us who wear powerful glasses to
read.
Once off our nose....we really don't see all that yucky stuff.

I wish you hadn't said that. But, saying that.....grits have little black
spots, but I am not about to look at it through a magnifying glass. Uhuh.

Oh, yeah! I kept most of my stuff in the fridge.

Cooked insects are pure protien and minerals and vitimins and very good
for you.
Don't sweat it.

Oh no! Can you feel anything wriggling inside your tummy?

I wouldn't worry about it. Insects are perfectly good food, and the
cooking of the rice surely sterilized the bugs. Just be happy for the
extra protein.

ARGH!!!!!!
Now I KNOW I'm a-gonna grow ALL me own bleedin' spicies from now
on!!!!! I didn't know that, Dalin.
PLEASE -- tell me you're only joshing!

Ummm .... was it white rice? Just think of all the extra protein you
got for your money. Gee, usually bugs leave white flour and
white rice alone since all the nutrients have been removed.
