Well I finally managed to post a couple of pictures onto the blog site.
One of Mildred at Barnard Castle Truck Show, grandson Connor and I
took our lowboy up to Barnard Castle with Mildred on the back. It was
a 3 day show so we had to sleep in the lorry cab, we had a great
weekend.
The second one was taken today, Mildred on the stepframe loaded ready to
go to a Vintage Truck Show tomorrow Sunday 24th at The Commercial
Vehicle Museum at Leyland, Lancs.

Looks neat but sure glad I don't have to drive it. :-)

Mildred looks so little up there. Give her a pat on the cowling for
me. :)

ok, i'm a city boy... is Mildred the tractor or the lorry? I'm easily
confused... (Now, if you'd talked about a Ford F-150 or a Dodge Ram 2500 I
might understand better... )

Will do at 0800 hours tomorrow :-)

Most excellent! Do post more. BTW... who's the tractor? Is that the Fordson?

Spot on JD 1940 Fordson N, hope you are keeping well mate.

Beam me up Scotty :-)
Mildred is a 1945 Thornycroft Sturdy Diesel 6/7 ton dropside flat lorry.
Sitting in the back of Mildred is Gertrude a 1940 Fordson agricultural
tractor, she is petrol start (hand crank) then turn over to T.V.O
(paraffin)

Both vehicles look rather spiffy. I am amazed to hear they
are that old. May we see them from the front, please?

well, I admire you for ensuring they all have proper names... Gertrude is
sorta' cute, as is Mildred. I'm sure they have proper manners as well.
but i have another cityboy question... what is TVO and paraffin? I think
my mom used to seal jelly jars with paraffin... does Gertrude do jelly
jars? or will she smack me for making such an inappropriate suggestion? :)

TVO is tractor vaporising oil, paraffin is paraffin ? if you try to
start Gertrude on TVO instead of paraffin she would probably kick you
over
a 5 bar gate.

I don't know about TVO, but I know that paraffin is the Limey name for
kerosene. ;-)

Almost correct, Joy :-))
Paraffin is indeed one of the derivatives of oil, and has a slightly lower
octane rating than kerosene. However, in most applications where kerosene
is required, paraffin is a good substitute.
When I was boating, one of the chaps had an engine that specified kerosene
and when he tried paraffin, it ran ever so slighly lumpy. He added about a
cupful of petrol (gasolene) per gallon of paraffin and the engine ran sweet
as a nut.
TVO is Tractor Vaporising Oil, slightly heavier than diesel fuel but again,
a good substitute. Paraffin would also serve.

Thanks for the correction, Goro.
