Random thought: Have you ever heard the word "vast" used in anything
other than geography/history textbooks?
Chakolate...
|
Hmm. Now that you mention it, it does seem to be geographical in the
vast majority of cases. ;-)

Stan( just wondering):)

I've seen it in novels about the early settlers of the west. The vast
prairie, the vast mountain ranges, etc.

A few decades ago, somebody remarked that television programming was a vast
wasteland. That's sort of geographic, sort of not. ;-)
Arch (TX)...
|
Not really, it is just the truth!

JD Cooper...
|
sure, as in such statements as: "vast knowledge".

uh, along that same highly intelligent thought process... have you ever
seen or heard the word "within" used in other than ads for job openings?
Arch (TX)...
|
Actually yes! Many time. Some examples (some are jokes but still
demonstrate the use).
He was within a few yard of landing when a tree sprang up in front of
his aircraft.
We are within our rights to protest. (Proper grammar???)
Within this building there lives a ghost.
Etc, etc, etc.

I've been told many times theres a "vast" open area between my ears.... ;-)
nospam...
|
Gee -- you too? !! :o)
Yoj...
|
Unfortunately, that is so. Fortunately, I don't have to spend a lot of time
lookign at it.

Yes -- a doctor I know used that word to describe an extremely obese
woman - he said her waistline was a 'vast circumference'!!!!!
