Huguette,
That is the only way to be isn't it? How are you doing Huguette? Fine I
hope. Got some more pictures to share? I hope so.
Take care.

I like honesty in a person, but not sure I like too much frankness.
Chakolate...

I agree - honesty is great, but you have to know when to use it.

That type of thing is a real problem for me. We have some
intersections here that aren't lit, and it's very hard to see
where to turn until you are right there. Obviously, that
would be much worse if one was traveling at highway speeds.

Jean, you really should try to go to these places by yourself if you can't
find someone to go with you, you're missing so much by not going. My boys
had a fit the first time that I told them that I was going to a concert on
my own!! They're used to it now, And when they saw how much fun I had on my
own, my SIL and daughter decided to go with me to a few! I've decided, since
my husband died, that life's to short and if I want to do something, I do
it!

Thanks, Phyllis. I really should do that. I don't know why I
don't. Sometimes it's logistical, but other times, it's just
too easy to stay home with a good book if there is no one else
involved. I'll see what day of the week and what time that
concert is.

When I first started to go places by myself I hated it! I made myself go,
now I'm always off somewhere or other. It's more fun if I have company, but
I don't mind going by myself either. Nobody even notices that you're by
yourself!~ I've met a lot of nice people in my travels.

Actually on that score, I decided to settle down in the
library with some work this morning. I made two discoveries:
1) It is VERY uncomfortable--at least those big comfy looking

Did you ever work for the government?
Doesn't "absence of dishonesty" = "honesty".

than the seats!
2) As previously observed and forgotten, there are M E N there.

Exactly. But you do get out to do things, and hence could
meet someone. I tell myself that is the only way I MIGHT meet

I know what you mean, Phyllis, but I still stay home sometimes when I'd like

to go. Mainly it's because I have trouble reading street signs, especially
at night, and I have no sense of direction. I don't like getting lost when
I'm alone at night.

Yes, I seldom go somewhere at night if I haven't been there before. Often I
can't read a street sign until I am at, or in, the intersection, and at some
corners there is not enough light to read the sign at all, or the sign is
missing.
Jean B....
|
One might think it is important to have those intersections
etc. well-lit. Here, though, TPTB decided to only use half of
the street lights in order to save money. That's been going
on since at least the arly 90s, because I recall it was a
problem when I was driving home from my parents' house.... It
was immediately more well-lit as one crossed into the next
town....

That's why time of day is relevant. Boy, I rarely drive on
the highway, but the traffic was so light last night that I
decided I would. Well, I got to the end of the ramp and knew
it was a big mistake because I have a hard time judging how
far away oncoming traffic is in the dark, but obviously I had
to get on the highway. We did survive, but it was a BAD idea
to do that at night. :-( Then I had to pay so much extra
attention to my driving because it was at night that I was
worried that I wouldn't see my exit....
Chakolate...
|
Sounds like you had a bad time of it, Jean.
That's another good reason to live in a big city - the expressways are
all lit up like daylight at all hours of the night. :-)
Jean B....
|
Gee! That would be helpful. Lots of folks must have trouble
driving at night....

Phyllis Copp...

I can't blame you there, I live in the country so there are no busy streets
and it's fairly easy to get around. The boys insist that I leave my phone on
when I'm driving alone at night. I guess they think it will be quicker to

Actually, I can see a difference. "Honesty" usually amounts to telling the
truth, no matter who it hurts. "Absence of dishonesty" is not lying, and
not being dishonest, but not necessarily blurting out hurtful truths.

someone (this is by being on the same turf because of a common
interest), but that obviously won't happen when I am sitting here.
Actually, I was talking with a man today, and there was
something in the air.... It was odd. I beat a hasty retreat!

Yes, honesty is important, but I would rank compassion ahead of that.
Intelligence and a sense of humor also couldn't hurt. ;-)
**Dalin**...

A compassionate liar? It could be. You can only list one thing. :-)
Dalin
Joy...

Compassionate lying could be called tact. ;-)
Okay, if I can have only one thing, I'll take compassion.
