I'm not on top of things. My daughter is the one who put up the tree while
Bette & I were out partying. I did make some mental decisions about gifts
but realized on two of them I needed to know their travel plans so I could
work out delivery. Going to order one or possibly two from Omaha Steaks (no,
Bette, that's not your gift). It's working toward cold here but beautiful
today except for a cold wind which makes it seem colder than it is.

**Lin**...
We're supposed to get it over the weekend, but there is a high wind
warning for all of tomorrow in front of the front and 90 percent
chance of thunderstorms too. But it will still be in the hgh 50s
tomorrow.

Just stay in the house Jeanette. Wear lots of sweaters. :-)

**Lin**...
mj, I've seen those steaks advertised, in fact now they have an ad out
where you get potatoes too. How does it work? I think they are
freeze dried. So are they vacuumed sealed and you just open one when
you want to cook one? And how do you get the moisture back in the
steak?

Lin

Beth...
Bette already told us that you are getting her a Mercedes. She just had to
decide what color.

**Lin**...
I'm going to. I don't want to spoil him though but I guess I don't
need to worry about that. Last year his other grandfather gave him a
child sized set of Yamaha drums and he recently gave him a full sized
electronic piano! I'm going to try and find a wooden puzzle for him.
The gift Bob picked out for him from us is an electric train. I
thought that was enough but I do want to pick something out myself for
him.

I think gift cards are nice if you are giving them ones they can
really use and need. I was going to get the kids a general Visa card
that you can use anywhere you use Visa, but it costs $4.98 to buy the
card!!!!

Lin

Jean B....
Oh my! Such extravagant gifts for such a little tot (speaking
of the drums and the piano.

Hmmm, I have always wanted a piano.... Oh well.

**Lin**...
A few years down the road he may appreciate them. Quite a few years!

Jean, why not look in the want ads for an old upright piano? My first
piano after we got married and I had to give up my baby grand was an
old upright I think we paid $100 for and $50 for the delivery. I
loved that old piano. No one wants those big old uprights anymore and
you can get them very cheap. And they sound much better than a spinet
or even a console piano.

Where is everyone? Three posts in the past hour. You see, after
David retired almost a year and a half ago we have been together 98.9
percent of the time. At first I missed no alone time, now I don't
like being alone.

Well tonight he has a meeting with the Explorers and won't be home
'til about nine. I tried reading, but the house makes noises, sounds
like someone is trying to get in. I can't find anything good on tv
and besides Shadow is watching her dog CD on tv.

I'm hungry and won't eat until he gets home. So somebody post
something!

What did you do today, what did you have for supper? Is your
Christmas shopping done yet? What's the weather like? Does your mall
play Christmas carols or is it PC? Is anybody out there? :-)

Jean B....
Oh, by now you have had responses. But if you insist...

Not much--looked at, um, diet recipes. Yeah I know, WOE, but
diet fits better.

Faux pizza.

Hmmm. Have I started it?

Getting colder. Was kind of drizzly earlier.

Hmmm. I heard carols somewhere. Very early November I think,
so it was mostly annoying. I did see a man erecting a creche
in front of a church, and that pleased my atheist self.

mmj1...
All the items come frozen in a special box. I made sure who I am sending
them to wasn't going out of town for Christmas. I haven't had them myself in
a few years but, as I recall they are flash frozen. They didn't look any
different than if I had put a steak in the freezer myself. Same with the
hamburger patties. Sort of pricey but when they have specials or coupons it
brings the price down.

Jean B....
Yes, I have seen them on freecycle. I should look into how to
get one moved here. I guess that's the hard part.
I can understand that. It means we still have some freedoms. :-)

**Lin**...

**Lin**...
But how do they stay frozen during shipment, etc.

**Lin**...
So I guess you would have to know the person receiving them was at
home when they were delivered. Which would be hard to surprise them
with the steaks as a Christmas gift.

Lin

mmj1...
You just find out by talking about your Christmas plans and casually ask if
they have anything special going on. Since my niece and family do visit
relatives during the year it was easy for me in our frequent e-mails to ask
their travel plans. Fortunately they have visited both sets of in-laws
during the past few months. As for a surprise, no, they would know when the
package arrived. Definitely not a gift that goes under the tree. (I asked
for Dec. 15th the last date you could specify.) I sent the "Fantastic
Family Feast" special at a great price which includes filet & top sirloin
steaks, stuffed stole, steak burgers, baked potatoes and a chocolate cake. I
have a feeling her husband will be cooking some of it on arrival. :-)

They just returned from being with his family. In the visit they went to
Monticello. Their little boy was disappointed because he thought they were
going to see Mama Jello. One of his favorite foods.
LOL! Yes, you're a BIG bit late, but it's the thought that counts.

mmj1...

Jean B....
That's funny! Poor little kid.

I now have an Omaha steak store in a neighboring town. I
haven't been there though. Dare I ask what they sell besides
steak, if anything? Probably pricy, so I doubt I'd get
anything there.

**Lin**...
that's the one I saw advertised, the Family Feast. Looked good!

Poor little boy. That was cute though. :-)

Lin
Dry ice as I recall.

:-) What were you doing up at 1:30? Are you a night owl?

No I wasn't up at that time. But when I opened my mail half a day later,
then I saw your post. With that time stamp on it.

mmj1...
I didn't know they had stores. It would be fun to see what's available.
Shouldn't be as 'pricey without packaging and shipping. Check it out for us.
Wonder if they have the specials in the store they do when you order via
phone or on line.

Jean B....
Okay, I'll go look. It'll have to be very soon or after
Christmas, because it is in a new mall....
That's my ideal too. But if set it for Christmas instead of
giving it spontaneously, I'd prolly forget all about it in the
interim.
I know what you mean. His being free to worship as he chooses means we are
also free to not worship. But also, it's nice that people who do believe
take time to do something else besides shop during this time.
