1943 - Tips on Getting More Efficiency from your Women Employees

david...
the beauty (?) of this is that it is not a hoax, but was actually published
in 1943, as barry states...

hard to grasp how insensitive people were not that many years ago....

**Dalin**...
Hey this was back in 1943. Women hadn't worked before, they were
replacing jobs men did who had gone to war. I thought the rules were
trying to be sensitive to the differences management might encounter
with women. They seemed to care about not using strong language
around them, giving them time to wash hands, comb hair, they cared
about outfitting them with uniforms that fit etc. I think they were
trying to be as sensitive as they knew how.

Well..Women 1st worked during the WW1..didn't they..Dalin ?...At least in
the UK and Australia they did..I know that the USA only came into the war 1
year before it finished..USA entered in 1917 !....

Did that effect the workforce then in 1917 in the USA ?

Yoj...
Actually, women were teaching and working in offices earlier than that. My
grandmother worked from 1912, when she was 23, until she retired in her late
60's.

The following is an excerpt from the July 1943 issue of Transportation
Magazine. This was written for male supervisors of women in the workforce
during World War II, only 60+ years ago! The intent was not to be "funny".

Really something, huh?
Talk about being treated as the underdog!
