Just keeping you all up to date. :)
And the forecast for tonight is for "scattered flurries". So, you see, it
isn't too cold too snow----yet. ;)

Hey, Marilee? Was that a grit-your-teeth-and-ignore-it, or a not-notice-
it?

Marilee,
I heard about your weather this morning, well because some of it is heading
this way, and they said it would have a wind chill of -43 last night, and
maybe tonight. Is your cold a dry or damp one? It do make a difference.

In thought down was very light!
**Dalin**...

It is. But it's very puffy so it looks like you weigh more than you
do.

|
|
Please keep it there. :-)

Hey, that's what I will do! Wear down clothes so that I can tell people it's
the clothes, not me....thanx Dalin for the info, although it may look and
feel awful in Aug. here in TX

LOL! I used to have a quilted down coat that came mid calf. I looked
like a blimp about to take off. Talking about comfortable clothes
that hide, I do wish they would bring back the mu mu!

What is the low supposed to be? Ugh!
Marilee...
|
"around -17"
Winnipeg says -30 C, which translates to -22 F.

Hehe. That reminds me of the forecast I heard a couple of
days ago. "The temperature is currently 31 degrees in
Boston.... The temperature MIGHT reach 31 degrees today...."
(I forget what the actual number was.)

I love living in Southern California!
Annie...

I'll bet you do, Joy!
Us folks up in Northern California are feeling the chill!!!

Yeah, hard to argue with California weather.

Here in North Dakota where I am, I've been posting weather updates all day.
It was -1° F this morning, then fell to -12° around noon, and is now -18°F.
Winds are at about 30 mph, so the wind chill is, well, really cold--probably
around -50° F.
Snow flurries means it may snow off and on tonight, which means that -18° F
is not "too cold to snow".

I think she meant it makes her look 20 pounds heavier. I agree, if it's
that cold, who cares?
Jean B....

Oh! Silly me. I'm sure your interpretation is correct.

how does the car respond, marilee? when it gets below zero here, our cars
are rather cranky... :) we use a mixed blend of synthetic and regular oil,
but I would guess you are using pure synthetic? i would also imagine
touching the car could be dangerous for frostbite...
Marilee...
|
Our car starts. Some cars don't, but mostly people have block heaters (
their cars will start in the morning. (Note that these were invented by a
North Dakotan!) We don't plug in our vehicles, though, unless we find we
need to. (I'll let you know after we've tried to start ours today.) If
one's car battery is getting older, then it's much harder to count on the
car to start.
We got no paper this morning, so I imagine my paper carrier couldn't get
~his~ car started. ;)
We use 10-30 oil year round.
Touching the car? I'm not sure what you're asking. The only time I touch
the car is to open the car door, or to open/close the back lift (I have a
mini-van). As long as my hands aren't wet, and I'm fast, I can touch the
car without damaging anything. Or I can wear gloves--which I rarely bother
to put on unless I'm the one doing the driving--with the house to car to
office to house is not that long an exposure.
No one would work on a car outside when it's this cold. Cars that need
washing are taken to car washes. Engine work and body work is done in an
auto body shop.
When it gets this cold (btw, it was -26° F this morning, but is supposed to
get warmer today--and there's almost no wind--up to -12!) one doesn't have
to do anything at all to endanger one's digits.

Eeek! What temp was it when you got up, Marilee? Here the
temp actually rose overnight. I won't taunt you with today's
forecast though. :-)
Marilee...
|
-26° F, but almost no wind. Supposed to get up to -12°. We're going to
Fargo to our daughter's this weekend for a visit, and it's usually warmer
there by a few degrees.
Oh, Jim just told me it's dropped another degree. Gotta love North Dakota!
It got up to 107 a couple of days this summer.

I think that's a tad too harsh, in both directions, for me.
You must be hardy folks there!
Marilee...
|
Yeah. We say it keeps the riff-raff out. ;)

JD Cooper...
|
o, lordy! I guess I ought not talk about our weather. You might take a
shot at me!
Marilee...
|
Oh, the rounds would freeze in the air! ;)
Marilee

**Dalin**...

What's one more hole?
JD Cooper...
|
one more hole and all my hot air would leak out!
**Dalin**...

And you might go "whoosh" and fly away to Minn. again.
