Waiting is hard

The daughter that was supposed to arrive at 10:30 this morning still hasn't
gotten here. She was bumped from her flight (overbooking, and I suppose
some leftovers from the Denver problem), wasn't allowed on one until late
this afternoon, which was delayed, as was her connecting flight.

Her brother is picking her up at the airport; the plane is supposed to land
in about 10 minutes. The airport is about 90 miles from here. I suppose

they'll be home by about 1:30 or 2:00.

I don't do well with waiting.

Bummer. :( The waiting is so hard.

My oldest son phoned to tell me he wasn't coming last night after all
and wasn't sure if he would be here today or tomorrow.

He usually leaves NYC around 9 p.m. and arrives here around 1 a.m.
That way he avoids traffic. However...he had just returned from the
doctor and was in bed with a temp of 102. The doctor declared it to be
a virus. I wish he had waited to get sick till he was here so I could
take care of him. Regardless of their age, moms still worry about the
kids.

I hope your daughter made it ok Marilee and Norma, that IS a bummer!
Maybe it will be one of those 24 hour things and he can still get
there. I sure hope so.

My kids are leaving from Port Charlotte, Fl. at 6 on Christmas Day.
It is a 10 hour drive from there to here. My daughter in law is driving to
the Florida State line and then my son will take over and drive the rest of
the way. I will be on pins and needles until they get here.
I guess Mom's can't help but worry.

It's the nature of the beast, I think.

She just sent me a text message that they've landed.

Now I just have to wring my hands until they get home. They've both been up
since early, early this morning, so of course I'm worrying about the drive
here.

I'm glad she's landed safely. My Neice is flying in from Denver, I haven't
heard how she's doing yet, or if she's even going to make it for Christmas.

Yes, while I was waiting and feeling frustrated by her disappointing day, I
kept thinking about the people in Denver who might be stuck there until
after Christmas and not make it home at all. I managed to stay thankful and
not get cranky, because it could have been So Much Worse.

We all got to bed around 3:00 this morning. She'd been up for 24 hours!
