My mother has been complaining about the rain in Valdez for weeks now. It's

I was surpised to read of a levee letting go. Somehow I never
associated flood plains with Alaska.

It's a good thing they have the planes and ferry though it sounds a
lot more expensive to bring in supplies that way. I hope your mom's
place have everything they need in the way of medicine etc. It is
scary to have the only road cut off.

I was surprised about that, too. I have no idea where it was. Presumably
it was on one of the rivers in the area.
