tonight, in the midst of a rain shower, shadow and i took a walk. it's been
raining all day and she just needed to get out and smell the earth. was a
delightful walk... the kind that only dog lovers or parents of small
children will grasp.... :) anyway, i digress...
on the way home in this rain, i noticed a small boy playing with a football
in a front yard... was a delight... he was totally engrossed in himself
and the football... and as i watched, I realized he was a football
game... offensive side of 11 men and defensive side of 11 men... all within
him... was a smile to my heart to watch him entertain himself out in the
rain on a dark day when there were no other children in sight... yes, he
scored several touchdowns and did a nice job of celebrating each... :) and
I could see that his punts and kicks and long throws were mostly
successful... life is good... :) i remember vaguely when I could imagine
myself as the entire game... and was a treat to see this. we should all be
children, at least some of the time... :)

Says the boy who just bought himself a new Santa Fe toy. :-)

we men can always rationalize that what *we* bought is not a toy, but a
necessary utility for the common good of the family. toy? why, of course
not.... :)

tradeoff... :) but, uh... I'm thankful that some in our little NG can be
children all the time... LOLOL.... so, uh, please be sure to wash your
hands and make your bed and pickup all your toys tonight before dinner...
and, fur gosh sakes, stand up straight... and your socks are all wrinkled,
and those shoes are a mess... and if you keep hiding your brusselsprouts
under the plate, you'll get no dessert... harrumph, young lady... :)

This is what it means to have a REALLY supportive mate :-P
We have a nice deep dip ebery Saturday ifn we need it or not, we are not
WEARING any socks, and we ARE sitting up straight. Furthermore, we dont have
beds, we have nests, and if either of us ever picked up ALL our toys, the
house would be nekkid..and there are never, ever, NEVER any brussel sprouts
hidden in a sheepeeish household..not for very long, anyway, them guise got
GOOD nosees!

It is nice to know that television and computer games haven't completely
stifled the imagination of children.

Your post makes me want to hug that little boy. Now that I hear more little
kids around me than I did at the house I often hear young laughs that make
me smile and feel kind of cozy.

I share your thoughts.... seeing this small child out in the rain on a dark
day, playing fully alone, was very touching... and also inspirational that
he could do this. :)
