1998, checked it out, took it home... and within 10 pages i felt, 'ya'
know, this'd be a nice addition to my permanent library.... but i wuddent
use it much...' hmm... $30 is the list price on book... dang..
so i checked amazon... and i found a brand NEW copy selling for $0.01 --
yup, that's one penny. so, uh, i figgered i cud afford thet... ain't life

LOL! I know the feeling. I get it in bookstores and hardware stores.

If you're looking for online books, be sure to go to half. com - they
searches about 30-35 online bookstores and lists the results, including
shipping, with the cheapest first.
Chak, who buys all her books online

Are we related?? My two favorite stores! I have been known to spend
hours in each of them.

I like books and bookstores but I never read any these days.

They're both so full of possibilities - the bookstore holds endless hours
of joy, and the hardware store is chuck-full of ideas and projects. But
the best thing about a hardware store is how it makes me feel like I can
do anything - I have all I need to do it, right there.
Note: I'm speaking here of mom&pop hardware stores, not the Home Despot
type. There I just feel frustrated and angry.

Norma,
I find the hamburgers you get in hardware stores have a metalic taste to
them:-))

don, fur cryin' out loud... put a dollop of WD40 on them... solves the
problem...

i agree, fully. our last mom&pop store closed here about 15 years ago. i
could go in, buy one washer for $0.05 and get quality sales help.
wonderful. since then, the closest we've found is an Ace Hardware store...
nice friendly help and i can still buy one bolt, one nut, one washer if
that's all i need.... :) -- and if i bring in a bolt, i can actually pick
various nuts from the drawers to see which one fits... can't do that at
home depot, for sure...

That is the *silliest* thing I've ever heard. You should be 'shamed.
WD40 doesn't *come* in dollops.

david,
never thought of that. I bet WD40 doesn't have cholesterol in it either:-))
david...

uh, i think cholesterol will be the least of your problems if you start
ingesting WD40... but all your innards will be well-lubricated... :-))

ONE cent! I assume you had to pay for the shipping?
I kind-of like that. The person is essentially giving the
book away. I bet all of us have books we can give away, and
this way we'd know someone would appreciate them (since they
did do the search, anyway).
