Knut Willy...
Do anyone of you know of any archiving programs.
I have so far 2,000+ digital pictures stored on 7 CD s.

Val Adams...
I like ACDSee Pro, and Photoshop has also an Archive/organinzing program.

those cost money, Knut... good stuff, but not free. If those photos are
priceless, my suggestion is to spend your money on an external USB hard
drive and get Picasa - which is free. (I'm assuming you have a newer
computer - not sure if Win98 works with them.)

For example, if you purchased a 100 gig external drive (often on sale for
approx $100 in U.S.), and installed Picasa, it would organize all photos
beautifully for you. And you could use the normally-included backup
software to make backup CDs of the hard drive.

I offer this suggestion because CDs won't last forever, whereas the
photos on a hard drive will last as long as the hard drive does. Just
plug it in on days when you want to organize photos. With them on hard
drive, you'll also have the flexibility of accessing any of them when
you're reviewing photos. and the CD backup would be short term insurance
until the next backup... just my two cents... :) ('cause that's how I
manage my software CDs... )

Thanks a lot David. Always useful information from that guy, isn't it?
Between the two of us, and the rest of our group, I have planned a new
trip over to my PC dealer tomorrow. To discuss once more purchasing of a
new IBM portable. NOT the Lenovo. Don't know what the tomorrow will
bring. Maybe a new one.
