Lou...
David, no one will solve the puzzle until there is a real prize - say some

david...
Ok, if you solve the puzzle, you won't have to eat my homemade cookies....

cookies?
with apologies to Stan and his nice serial, "The Group", recently posted
here.... :)

while lounging under trees while camping and getting whupped soundly at
gin rummy by dalin, I developed an idea for a puzzlement...

Of the many characters in the story, five of them were the hijacker, the
pilot, the parachutist, the flight attendant, and the marguerita-drinker.
the five persons were Ladybird, Jakes, Jeanette, Joan, and Dink (I had to
change names from those actually in the story to prevent confusion ).
although not mentioned in the story , each wore a different colored
outfit... the five colors were organdy, peach, polkadots, purple and
puce. Also, each was a different age. The youngest among the five is 41
and the oldest is 45.

Joy...
********************************************
Be careful, Jeanette. That is the kind of thing I always used to say, and
look at me now. ;-)

From the following clues, determine who was what and what color outfit
they wore, and their age.. Winner will receive a letter from a Nigerian
business manager, offering $100,000,000 if you'll only give him your bank
account info so he can transfer the funds... (he wouldn't lie, you
know...)

The clues:
1. of the two guys among the five, dink and jakes, one of them was the
flight attendant.

2. The person who was the hijacker is older than the one who wore purple,
but is younger than Dink. The person who was the pilot, who was not Joan,
and the person wearing polkadots are both older than Jeanette.

3. Neither Jakes nor the parachutist wore polkadots. The person who was
44 yrs old wore the peach-colored outfit.

Chakolate...

david...
kwitchurdreamin'... david knows Stan and you are both just using stalling

Chakolate...
Stalling? Moi? Hmm, I shall have to go off and ponder that.
Ponderously. It may take some time.

tactics... :)
I should think not.

david...

Lou...
There is a rumor dalin makes good cookies. Enlist her???
just solve the daggone puzzle... awhright awhready? :)

Chakolate...
Can't. I'm too busy imagining Jakes in polkadots.

david...
life is relative... that means Jakes is either in organdy, peach, purple,
or puce... I didn't exactly choose pretty colors... LOL you may wish he
were in polkadots.... :)

4. The 43 yr old, who is neither Ladybird nor the organdy-clothed
hijacker, was not the parachutist.

5. The youngest person did not wear puce and was not the pilot. The
oldest of the five persons was not the parachutist and did not wear
peach.

6. The women were the 42 yr old, the pilot, and the one in purple.

7. Ladybird is not the oldest. Joan is the youngest. The marguerita
drinker is older than the person wearing puce.

Stan...
david

david, I looked in my giant crayola box and I just can't find "puce"
Before I attempt an answer, could someone describe "puce"?

Chakolate...
Certainly. Puce is hex triplet CC8899. It's quite close to mauve, hex
triplet 993366. Does that help? ;-)

Stan(who believes david makes up color words) :)

As always, names were picked just for fun, with no intentional
embarassment to anyone... :))

Arch (TX)...
I was going to try for the prize but I have already sent my bank account
information to another Nigerian who is going to send me double the
ammount you cited. Sorry.

Arch (TX)...
I just checked my bank account....it's EMPTY! Well, I guess the
Nigerian guy had to make room for that big gift he is sending me.
Right?

david...
right, arch,
Probably didn't want your account to exceed the $100,000 limit of fed
backing... what a nice guy!! :) He'll probably ask for a few hundred $'s
to handle the accounting fees to transfer the money...
