david...
here i felt i had cured myself... not hoarding pencils anymore, not
hoarding ball point pens anymore, not keeping 20-30 pads of paper
anymore, got rid of a bunch of stuff i don't use...

.... and then.... and then i decided to clean out my dresser...

- over 200 old business cards, going back to 1966
- five old wallets (hey, you never know...)
- five pocket knives - and i have never used any of them...
- my military discharge papers (form DD-214). i was told to keep that in
a
safe place forever and ever and nobody has ever ever wanted to
see it... can i trash it? who knows?
- calculators out the wazoo... HP, Sharp, TI, several others....
all like new - some never used. at least 7 of them. I will
"try" to package and donate to thrift store... but back when these
were new, they were pricey.... dang! and i checked ebay to see
how rich i'd get by selling them there... so i priced my HP 18C
(which was approx $185 in 1985) and one is being offered for $9.95

david...
well, that's my problem with my HP Deskjet Plus with multiple fonts. Cost
me $550 in 1989 and was considered a bargain. yet when i bought a new
laptop a couple of months ago, i received a scan/print/ocr/copy color
printer for FREE that is superior in print quality and 10 times faster...
when companies start giving printers away for free, i'm hesitant to buy
one... (btw, when dalin bought a new laptop 4 years ago, she also received
a new color printer free... and it's still in the box.. )

and has no takers...

Chakolate...
If you keep everything, does that mean you kept the manuals, too? Be
kind and give them to a math teacher at the local HS. The math teachers
all know who needs a calculator, and which calculator will be better for
which student.

david...
ya' know, that's part of the problem. i would gladly give much if i could
find the person who needs it. we don't have a good way to redistribute
items no longer needed... but i like your idea here..

dang! it sure is hard to clear out my
clutter... :)

me...
Sounds like me -- "Keep it for the next 20 years or so, becuz U never
know when U might need it" !!!! :o)
