Thank you , but Nooo, bad sheepee dint put one, didnt think I'd be away
that long. What started out as a simple little job, digging out some
maidenhair fern by the roots, has turned in to an enormous moving mud-pie
project. Not finished yet, either, but goofed off yesterday so not really
groaning yet this morning.
There are amusing aspects. It is too hard to dig standing up, so I sit on my
litle garden cushion with a hand-trowel and a five gallon bucket. When the
bucket gets full, I winch the bones up to a standing position, carry the
bucket away, dump the dirt where it will hopefully do more good (carefully
scrabbling thru it for any bits of overlooked root), and then go back and
dig some more.
Fortunately, my neighbors already thought I was nuts...

But it keeps you out of trouble. And it sounds like very hard
work! And you do know you'll probably miss a little root or two and
before you know it you'll have a garden full of ferns again. Aren't I
encouraging?
