Wow.... Here I'm first coming back online and....

I run into the loss of one of our friends....

So sorry to hear about Jim.... that took me by surprise.... it was the first
thing I read before deleting all the 20,000 posted notes....

I've just about got my machine ready to come back out here and be with my
friends.... a little more tweeking.... No not me.... the machine.... and
I'll be a ready....

I've been offline for about a week so if anyones asked me anything.... its a
good time to re-ask it.... this time you might get an answer....

Mikal, I had company for a week and was off myself. How come you were
off? Computer crash?

It sure was sad news for you to come back to. :-(

Mikal...

Yeah.... something like a computer crash.... Mikal done proved pnce again he
can screw anything up.... I tried to change the partitions in one part of my
HDD and the machine locked up at the very last moment.... When I restarted
it somehow or another my main partition was gone.... I was so scared.... all
of the work I've been doing for that book plus my address book....
everything that was stored for the last 6 years.... I had some stuff backed
up but I had so much newer stuff that I haden't gotten around to backing
up.... It seems the begining blocks on the HDD were failing.... I had
noticed a couple of small problems with certain programmes but not enough to
get my attention....

Lucky I have a program called "Get Data Back".... you set the failed HDD up
as a slave in another computer and this program with go back thru looking
for anything on the HDD.... It restores it to a folder and I couldn't
believe how much it got back.... everything except the operating system....

So Mikal is one very very lucky little boy.... and hes gonna make sure
everything is backed up before reinstalling it into this machine.... ;-)

Oh Mikal, you certainly were lucky! All the work for the book ...
Funny, isn't it, everyone knows they should frequently back up files
that are important to them but somehow we just don't do it. I guess
we say "tomorrow" only tomorrow doesn't come. I haven't backed up my
e-mail in about eight months. :-( Tomorrow!

Well, guess I better ask again, Did you send me your check? No hurry,
but I could sure use the money. You do remember, right?
