Since Sunday, the Temps in Fort Worth,Tx have been reaching 105F to 108F
+. I pity the Homeless and the poor people with no AC.

So do I, Robert. Of course that's a normal summer in Las Vegas. We keep our
place warmer than most people and warmer than we'd prefer but our power bill
is still large (and it's going up). Hopefully we will have time before the
higher rates go in effect to see if the bill is lower now that we are in a
much smaller place. Probably not but I can still hope.

mj A fan blowing directly on you should help a lot.
I sleep with a little 6" fan blowing from about 2 feet from the end of my bed
and have not had to turn on bedroom a/c yet. Only use living room a/c during
the day.

That's awful! Are they even adequately hydrated? :-(

I know what you mean, Robert. It's been over 90 every day for about two
months now, mostly in the high 90's, and we've had a few days over 100.
It's almost painful to go outdoors. My power was off for about an hour last
Saturday, and during that time the temperature in my house climbed from 78,

We turn the air off at night and use fans in the bedrooms. Our bill in the
house was lower than most people I know because we kept it set higher in
the daytime and shut it off at night. My granddaughter says none of her
friends have to live in such a hot house. I suggested she try to get a lot
of overnight invitations.
:-) However, the high ceiling in the new place may cut down any chance of
the power being lower than the house. The living room, kitchen & dining area
ceiling is two stories high. It's actually one room with a bar between
kitchen and living room. Looks nice but I understand that kind of ceiling
ups both your heat and cooling expenses. The first bill was about the same

Mingy doesn't even try to hide his cowardice. I'd love to see
how your guy looks after the fact.

You can undo some of the problem by running your ceiling fan in the
winter. The warm air rises, so a ceiling fan circulates the warm air
into the room. There's a setting on the fan, a switch, that lets you run
it backward so the air blows up instead of down, so you don't get a
draft.
(Apologies if you already know this.)

I'd be a bit leery of setting an apliance to "blow up".

Silly man. Thanks for my afternoon chuckle.

Oooh-kay.
Do you have any problem with making a machine purge itself?

I use to have a Sunbeam Alpine that did that a lot.

I don't know what that is, but did it binge first?

as the house but that covered the move-in which had doors open with the air
running. Then with the threatened rate raise to cover mistakes the power
company made a couple of years ago I think we'll see an increase. Oh well
not much we can do about it.

where the thermostat is set, to 85. I was getting very uncomfortable when
it came back on, so I can only imagine (or remember) what it's been like for
people with no AC. And, as you say, for the homeless.

Our power went off last Sunday at 5:35pm and came back on at 6:25pm.
Like you, we keep our thermostat on 78º. Like you, the temp in our house
also rose to 85º, the temp outside was 106º. My Charter Cable internet
hook up had been going off and on since about 1:pm. The "Tech" at
Charter told me I needed a new Modem....Bull. as soon as the electricity
came back on, I turned on my puter about 7:pm and it worked fine til I
turned it off at 11:pm. With the heat this week, Charter is still
droping my connection until around 7:pm each evening.
