When I passed my granddaughter's room today she was at her computer with her
feet on the desk and the keyboard on her lap. The TV sitting on the top
shelf of her computer desk was on. I decided not to ask if she was on
MySpace while watching TV or doing one of her two online college courses.
Figured that was something a grandmother didn't really want to know. :-)

It's said that while the ability to do what you do doesn't diminish with
age, the ability to multi-task does. I find that's true for me. When I
was in college the first time around, right after high school, I could do
many things at once. Now, not so much.

That's good to know--that young folks can, not that we can't.
Leah sometimes takes notes with one hand and draws with the
other. It's amusing.
Less amusing is seeing her do her homework while fiddling
around on the computer and listening to music. I'll try to
keep your words in mind.

I'd look at the results instead of the process. If her grades are good,
she's doing it right.

Yabbut... Of course, she could do better if one just looks at
her IQ, but then one has to factor in her problems. Hard to
say just what she is capable of.

College kids are experts at multi-tasking. I don't know how they do
it!

A wise Grandma, indeed!

But when it comes to school work do they really do it? Saw an article
recently in the business section of the paper where some study showed that a
lot of college graduates know very little about what should be basic
knowledge.

A lot of college classes have undergrads as teachers while the profs
are busy writing books. :-( They probably know very little more than
the students.
