david...
it's been a long time since a puzzlement of mine... :-)) so here is one
to keep you up nights... :-))

There are 5 people: Jean, JD, Joan, Jakes, JimE

david...
i use dragon on occasion. works beautifully... whether NG or Word or other
software... there have been times when it's nice to just use a headset on
the computer... :)

Each lives in a different colored house: beige, blue, green, yellow,
white.
each likes to post on a particular topic: taxes, movies, weather,
children, technology.

Jane...
You did fine, Diane.

David didn't bother to tell you, but when he posts these puzzlements, it's
because he's looking for help with them.

You didn't think he really knew the answer, did you? :-)

david...
jeez! some folks jest can't keep a secret... dang! actually, i do have
fun with logic problems, but i'm no whiz at them. but i'm better at logic
problems than i am at crosswords... :-))

Shirley...
Excellent job Di.... ;o}

each likes to respond to posts on one of the above topics, but always a
response post and never an original post.
no two people post on the same topic or respond on the same topic.

Bigbazza...
David...Have you based this on an old riddle that reads differently to
this..One where you have to establish 5 facts about the people !...It was
something like 'Who Smokes Camel Cigarettes and who lives ...etc ??

I have the original somewhere in my study ! from years back !

Jim Everman...
He's got it messed up anyway. For starters, I live in St. Louis which
is 100% brick homes. Do you see "red" or "brick" anywhere in the list of
colors?

your challenge: identify who lives in which colored house, their
preferred posting topic and their preferred response post topic.

the facts:
1. jakes doesn't post about children and responds to posts made by the
person who lives in the green house.
2. joan likes to post on movies and likes to respond to posts by jean.
3. JD posts about technology and does not live in the white house

david...
hi, di, that was
FABULOUS!!!!! all correct. :-)) i'm glad you had fun working on it.
was fun for me to put together, too.... .. Your prize is an all-
expense trip to south australia. i'm sure you'll enjoy it... :)

4. the house the person lives in who responds to posts about weather and
posts on what JimE responds to isn't beige or green
5. the people who live in the blue house and the green house don't post
or respond to posts on technology at all. the woman who posts on taxes
lives in the beige house.

Sue...
Is this a time zone quiz? Might as well be.
sue

david...
dang! i thought we cured you of those time zone problems... :) eastern
time, central time, mountain time, pacific time... etc... and, seriously,
there is/are free software that does a great job of showing multiple
clocks.... if interested, let me know... :) fur egzample... it's 16:08
in california now, but it's 3:08 AM tuesday in baghdad, but 9:38 in
adelaide... but 12:08 tues in auckland, but GMT is 08, and local time is
19:08.... :-))

Sue...
Oh, dear!
sue

Jim Everman...
I don't recall joan ever posting about a movie, and hardly anyone
responds to my posts no matter what they are about.

Oh yeah, his time is messed up also. It's 6:44 here.

Shirley...
It's a trick quiz...

They are ALL David...he lives in a phsycaldelic colored house...posts some
and answers some...has fun with all.. ;o}

What do I win?

Jim Everman...

Sue...
Oh, dear #2.
sue

Jean B....
Picky, picky--and this is a response. :-)

mj...
I go in streaks of doing logic problems. Love those logic puzzle magazines.

Jim Everman...
I need Sudoku help...

Geo Jim

Jean B....

Jim Everman...
It passes the first test.. it results in N 38 degrees and W 90
degrees. That puts it in this area anyway...

Off to "Lost Outdoors" for a moment, to discover that it is indeed a
likely spot. It plots to a point in a seldom used county park that is
popular with Geocachers (because it is seldom used). Seems to be near
the parking lot also.

The weather is a bit dismal at the moment (9am) but when it clears up
a bit I'll mosey over and check it out.

Jean B....
Good luck--and HTH. (I'm sure Leah is too. )

It probably took me more time to type it in than it took Leah
to do it.

Jean B....

Jime...
It worked! I went out there this afternoon. When I pulled into the
parking lot I followed the arrow on my GPSr and parked at the foot of a
very old, very overgrown cement staircase. Good sign. The cache was
near the top of the stairs,

I also worked out my own puzzle for the next Sudoku geocache...

Geo Jim

Jean B....
I'm glad it worked! We would have been happy to tackle more
puzzles for you!

david...
i'm impressed, jean. there is a sudoku puzzle in our paper each week, but
they just frustrate me... numbers, numbers..

Jean B....
Well, I can do them, but Leah is really fast!!!!

mj...
I'm determined to master it without frustration so I bought "Sudoku for
Dummies" when at Wal-mart yesterday. Supposedly it's very good for your
brain and to help ward off mental problems. I'll let you know if my
mentality improves - assuming I master it.

**Dalin**...
Agh! I hate those things! Remember Rubic's Cube?

Dalin

Jean B....
This is a lot more doable than Rubic's Cube....

Jean B....
Did you see the web site I posted? You can also check on your
progress, so you don't get too far based on an error. I did
that for a while, and now I am doing without.
Okay. Leah and I will get right on it!

Diane...
Gosh! I'll have to get my shots!
How exciting!
Underwhelmed Di :)
I've already pointed out that I live in St. Louis (100% brick homes),
but there is no "red" amongst the house colors.

mj...
Well, I'm getting the hang of it and the best way to approach solving it but
it's not fun. Why do I want to do it? I keep trying to figure out why this
is sweeping the country - almost the world. At least with crossword puzzles
you learn words and with logic problems you spur on your mind and memory.
But since I spent six bucks on the book I am determined to do the puzzles in
the book and then probably walk away and never look back. What's that game
you play online? Maybe I should give that a try.

Shirley...
I tried figuring out the old fashioned way and ended up going
....OW...OW...OOOOWWWEEEEE... my answer is less painful...do you know who
goes where and posts what?

Rhonda...
I'm confused! LOL
