remember the 'crime stoppers textbook' in each sunday paper?.. and tess
trueheart? and two-way wrist radio? hard to believe he's been around 75
years... i haven't seen any of him for at least 40 years, but he is
apparently still saving the world from crime... :)

I don't remember the textbook, but I was an avid Dick Tracy
reader. I read the strip in the paper all the time. Also, my
best friend's older sib(s) had a hoarde of old comics in a
storeroom, and we would occasionally indulge in same. There
were some old (to me) Dick Tracy comics. One I remmber has a
crazed person with an axe (at least that's how I remember it).
I sometimes thing of that comic book even to this day.

My newspaper still runs the comic strip.

I haven't seen Dick Tracy in years but funny, the names still stick
with me: Gravel Gertie, Sparkle Plenty, Tess Trueheart. LOL

How has it evolved over the years? I can only assume there
has been a succession of artists.

It's one of the few comic strips in my papers that I don't read regularly.
I do look at it occasionally, and, not having old strips to refer to, I'd
say the characters look about the same. Tracy still has that square chin
and so on. The subject matter seems to have evolved. They apparently have
something going on now that involves reading minds electronically.

The names stick, but their faces don't come to mind. Oh well,
I'm sure we can find a refresher course online.
