Well, I talked to the Doctor's Secretary today and he is to call me later
this week. He did say that I will have the stent(shunt) surgery this month.

Well, I hope it goes well. The artery they are fixing is the big one and
the bulge is between the kidneys. They did part one of the surgery a couple
of weeks ago but because of the Holidays they didn't get the second phase
done. It is the aorta that is going to be shunted, a fairly new procedure
around here. They put the shunt into the femoral artery and the expansion
device into the other femoral artery and when positioned they open the shunt
up. It has metal clasps which anchor the shunt to the inside of the artery
and bypasses the blood from going through the artery and it then goes
through the shunt.
It, the shunt, comes with a 30 day money back guarantee:-) It is such a new
procedure that they don't know how long they last but guess 10 to 15 years.
Now that I've made you sick to your stomach I think I'll go and create havoc

It is so annoying that some doctors don't realize how important surgery is
to their patients.
"This month" is way too vague for me! The problem is that doctors seem to
consider anything but open heart surgery or brain surgery to be "minor
surgery". OTOH, there is no such thing as minor surgery when you're the
patient. I guess we're called patients because we need to be. I do hope he
calls you soon and sets a date early this month.

It must be frustrating to have something this important to you be so casual
to the doctor. On the other hand, maybe that's a good thing he doesn't see
it as something that has to be done immediately. Regardless, it's not a
casual thing to you so my heart goes out to you for all this wait and see
stuff.
