a fillo-so-ffofical argument for you to think on. you may submit an essay
or dissertation but no more than 30k words, please.
under the tenets of the Christian beliefs,
IT IS A SIN TO GIVE MONEY OR AID TO THE POOR AND NEEDY.

Interesting statement. I'd not thought of it that way. In retrospect, I
have read a ton of posts by people (in other groups) who brag about
their charitable giving.

ummm, Mick! That is what I said.

Maybe, but I wasn't sure it's what I'd said, not exactly anyway.

I think you have it right Mick. The Bible says not to let your left
hand know what your right hand is doing. In other words, don't tell.

it is one of the cardinal sins to be proud of oneself: if you give money to
a beggar then you make yourself feel better, feel proud that you have done
it; therefore you are causing yourself to commit a sin.

I disagree, politely, but firmly!!
We are to help our fellow man whenever we can, whether it be with
money, food, clothing, etc.
Certainly NOT bounders, though, who think it perfectly acceptable to
sit on their duff and refuse to seek employment, though.
Those who refuse to work don't deserve the help of others in that
regard, IMO.....
I've already come under insulting innuendo tossed my way over my
participation in assisting with a very dangerous situation
approximately a month ago- the individual in question was more
concerned with shooting insults at me instead of realizing I did what
I was able to do to help - oh well---------- good thing we all don't
think alike !! :o) At least the people concerned appreciated my
efforts, and even our Pastor remarked how pleased she is that I am a
member of that Church.
Some people, however, it seems, can never be happy unless they're
firing off barbs at someone else!

uh, methinks you have a bit of mixed theology... ... to brag or
otherwise ensure that others know of your gift would be a sin... to feel
inner peace for having shared what you have with others would not be. the
gift must also be given, such that the receipient does not feel inferior to
the giver - and the gift is best done in private. i was gonna' go for the
30K limit, but dalin is working me in the garden and i'm sweating all over
the keyboard... :)

Worse yet, you are depriving the poor and needy of the opportunity to
suffer, which as we all know, increases grace.
