Stan...
For months now people at check-out counters all over the world have been
subjected to the shenanigans of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. I rented Mr.&
Mrs. Smith last night and it is one of the worst films I"ve ever seen.

I don't know what this film was about. It certainly wasn't a drama or a
comedy. It was like some kind of video game created by an 8 year old boy
fascinated by destroying people and a 13 year old girl unsure of her
self-image. There was no plot, no story, just two people shooting other
people. You never find out who the "bad" guys are. There is no conclusion,
no theme music, and mostly there is a lot of terrible acting. Whatever
"chemistry" between these two people it was not apparent to these old eyes.
Brad Pitt should be teaching in a modern day middle school so he can learn
the true meaning of pain and humiliation. The bulimic Jolie is not appealing
at all. A person can only take so much of that "one facial expression" she
emotes.

When a person spends two hours watching a movie he should taken "away".
He should empathize with the characters. At the end of a well acted film he
should feel some sort of "catharsis" whether it's the feeling of
contentment with a happy ending or feeling of understanding with a sad
ending. After the movie a person should feel he has been "entertained"

Movies use to have great songs that stuck with you and possibly you
still hum today. Great movies have actors and actresses with "developed
characters" so you can enjoy the way these characters face their triumphs
and defeats. I want Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr back. I want Bogy and Bacall
back. I want Redford and Barbra back. Most of all, I WANT MY $3.99 back I
paid for Mr.&Mrs.Smith!
