Rainy and cool all this week. :-( Temp will go no higher than 64F
today and going into the 40s at night. I think by the time my garden
Jean B....

Please take some of ours, Jeanette! You can even give me a
degree or two--but not too much!

gets started the frost will be here. LOL!
Anne Jackson...
|
I have a superabundance of Summer here in Scotland, Dalin!
Joy...
|
We had several days of mid to high 90 degree weather, but now we have our
usual June gloom, although the temperatures are still in the mid-80's.
|
D'you want me to send you some?
**Dalin**...
|
What'll it cost? Do the Scots do anything for free?
Anne Jackson...
|
Oh ye of little faith.....!
**Dalin**...
|
Ok, I accept. :-) It's going down to 48F (9C) tonight and we'll
probably have to turn the heat on. In June.
Anne Jackson...
|
Fine, it's on its way....
Almost 1 am here, and all the windows are open, and it's still
'hot and sticky' weather....if this global warming keeps up, I'll
have to think about an air conditioner....in the north of Scotland!!
**Dalin**...
|
You're on a more northerly latitude than I am, wonder why you don't
get dumped on with snow in the winter?
Get a small window unit for your bedroom and sleep in comfort! It
will last for years. It's worth the money, trust me. :-)

It's at my house. I'll do my best to send it on to you.

Comfortable tomato growing 90's here... and will be for months!

We are melting here in the UK
**Dalin**...
|
Ack! That's just as bad! Before we got air conditioning I used to
wrap four ice cubes in a washcloth and put it in a plastic bag and
hold it on the back of my neck. It did seem to help.

What state?

You know what helped when my AC was down in the summertime? Putting a
moist cloth on an electric fan blowing at me. Don't make it too moist or
you will be electricuted!

central NY. Where are you?

Looks like you're in mountainous area? I guess that would be part of
the Appalachians? I never thought of them going through NJ.
Allegheneys?
Dalin

Kind of hilly but thats all. Quite pretty.
What is (are) nearest big town(s) for you?
|
|
|
Really, that's kind of nice. Cool mornings and evenings and warm
afternoons. And a milder winter than our nearby mountains.

I'm 10-15 miles northeast of Syracuse, NY. A little town called
Cicero on Oneida Lake. Pokey little country town until a few years
ago when it became the fastest growing area around the city. Property
values have gone up 40% in the past year, but the town has also lost
its character. :-(

West of us, maybe an hour or so. Snowy? SNOWY? We are in the snow
belt, get about 140-190 inches a year depending.... sometimes no
place to put the snow, must truck it out of town. Snow banks so high
one cannot see around a corner when driving. Wait til this winter, I
will be telling stories and taking pictures. :-)
Anne Jackson...

Any rain, to water them with?

South Central Texas near San Antonio.

I like snow, 'cept for driving in it cause my car does poorly.
|
|
|
Errrr..... 90s? Couldn't you send me some mid 70s instead? And
some sun. :-)
|
|
Well thank you very much, but 105 is a leetle warm for me. :-)

The best car I ever had for winter driving (A Toyota Corona) had
studded snow tires. I could go anywhere, up slippery hills, etc.
People don't seem to use them much now, I guess because you have to
have two extra tires, rims and a place to store them.

I have to say myu Prius seems to be just as good as my AWD
Passat was in the snow and ice, although I don't know why that
would be the case. Of course, I don't venture out in really
bad conditions....
Anne Jackson...
|
The worst car I ever had, for driving in the snow, was a Volvo...
made in Sweden!
My brother tells me that any car involved in an accident in Norway
in the winter, that doesn't have snow tyres fitted, then the driver
is charged (not sure with what!). I hate to think what the Norwegian
road surfaces are like, if all the cars are fitted with studded tyres!
Jean B....
|
Isn't THAT odd!
Do those tires necessarily have studs, or do they just have
grabby surfaces?

Thought so. Have an RVer friend down there somewhere.

It's here in the Dallas area. We may hit 100* today. Perhaps all week. But
I wouldn't trade it for anything!
I don't post often, but enjoy reading everyone's post's. Ya'll crack me up
sometimes....
Divine Diva
JD Cooper...
|
Hey! You divine diva you!
I moved here from the area you live. I had a rancho east of there in
Kaufman county and a pice in Van Zandt county. It is w-a-a-a-a-y more
hot there than here and w-a-a-a-a-y colder in the winter... but the soil
and flora and fauna are better there.
Remember the summer '81 when it was *over* 100 for six weeks?
Janny...
|
Hey JD, I wasn't here the summer of '80 or '81, whenever it was, but as the
saying goes, "I got here as soon as I could". Took me 50 years, been here 9
years, and cannot imagine living anywhere else but The Great State. When we
retire (again) Corpus will be our 'final destination.'
Why it got so cold up here that we had to have the furnace on once last
winter!
(an Illinois native, I now can't figure out what kept me away for so long)
The Divinest Diva Ever
JD Cooper...
|
heh!
Well, y'all will prolly like living at Corpus pretty much. It's a
smaller town as you know. Have y'all looked over at Rockport/Fullerton
area? It's really nice over there. I'd move there if I could.
JD Cooper...

ack! "Fulton", not Fullerton..

Probably snow / ice covered.

So far, we are not having a usual very rainy June. They say a dry May
brings hurricanes later in the summer and fall. I don't know about a dry
June.
