Hi Ken,
Since you are in New Zealand it would pay you to join your local
Genealogical Societies Branch.
Ask the local members what Genealogical programs they run, see the
programs in action and see the charts that the programs printout.
Join the NZ Genealogical Societies computer group if need be.
Some branch members run their own informal computer group and you can
learn allot from these people, I know that there is a informal group in
Tauranga as many years ago I was the co-ordinator of that group.

Would anyone have a serial number that I could try please for the RootsMagic
program version 3.2?

Have been using Legacy up till now but would like to have a descent trial at
RootsMagic.

Also can anyone advise what is a great Genealogy program

someone else to do something illegal. A free trial is available by download at

Hi Ken,
As others have answered your question about the serial number for
RootsMagic I will address the issue of a Great Genealogical program.
First up there is no such thing as a Great Genealogical Program as to
the why this is purely subjective this means what I think is a Great
Genealogical Program may not be such a Great Genealogical Program in
someone else's eye.
All Genealogical Programs have their good points however some of use use
more than one program due to the fact that one program is better in
certain situations than the other be it easier to enter data or better
record printouts or the ability to create a website of your data or
similar feature.

What you call a Great Genealogical Program depends on the features that
you want in the program.
Price is another issue again this can be from Free to about $100.00USD.
For example "Legacy" SE is free where as "The Master Genealogist" Gold
Edition which sells for $79.95USD
