free census sources

Is there a free online source of census records? I thought I used such a
site a year or so back, but can't find it now.

info, but most end up at Ancestry.com and a fee is charged.

If you are asking about American census records, there is no single source for
free census records. Many different groups have brought free images and
transcriptions online.

My library, and I assume many others, subscribes to Ancestry Plus, so the
only cost is for printouts.

county. Go to:
and navigate to the county in which you're interested.

NOTE: there will also be links to subscription-only census sources. All
fee-based data should be marked with a conspicuous "($)" legend.
