how to find back the offspring in the US

a while ago i was looking for an Alida Vermaete married with Arthur Desmedt
who emmigrated around 1900 - 1910 to the US

in the census of 1930 i found back an Arthur Desmet married with Emily
(probably the alida i'm looking for)

the census says they had 3 sons at that time:

Julius (13), August(12), Albert (10) & Jerome (2,5)

anyone who can help me ?

Detroit is a big city nowadays .... and a lot of people called Desmedt or
Desmet are living there now
