Mystery Song, Probably Obscure

Back in 1980, I recorded a song off the radio. I've tried over the
years to identify the title or the artist, but never successfully.

Here's my recording (about 2 minutes long):

As best as I can make out the lyrics to the chorus, they are:

Lonely european days and nights go by
No one treats me like you do
Perfect fit how I need you

Can anyone help?

Well, I couldn't figure it out, but a few lyrics at the very beginning
sound like:
"new york to paris" "rome and london" "trying so hard to come back"

...maybe that'll help a bit.
