Do You Recognize This Song?

Friend of mine said she heard song she likes but she's not sure of the
title or artist.

This is what she said ....

"I did hear a song that I liked on the way to work the other day. Of
couse I don't know who it was .. don't even know if it was female or
male .. don't even know if it was female or male .. they were saying
something about "you are so beautiful" and about "her never being mine"
.. probably a dude singing it but it didn't really totally sound 100%
like a dude"

Does anyone know what artist/song this might be?

that! I've actually heard this said.

Well, back in 1981, I too thought of a woman with a deep alto voice when
I first heard "I won't let you down" by Ph. D.
YEARS later, I got to know that this was Jim Diamond. Yes, it _was_
surprising ;)
