I heard a song once about this guy on the 4th of july. He was
"skipping stones and shooting rockets" with this girl.
Then {after dark they slipped into the park, she told him to be quite
put his hand on her dress and said "if you want to be a man you'd
better try this."
Not the exact lyrics but the best I can recall after about 10 years or
not hearing it.
Now I would bet money it was sang by Bruce Springsteen.
HOWEVER!!! I am 100% certain it is not: 4TH OF JULY, ASBURY PARK
(SANDY).
Not any of the 3 different lyrics I have hard anyway.
Unsure it this helps or just adds to the confusion, but the tape that
I had (homemade and given to me) was marked :
"Cast Iron Ballads" on one side and "Torch Songs" on the other.
Or it might have been :
"Cast Iron Songs" & "Torch Ballads"
If you have a collection of Bruce Spingsteen lyrics in ANY format that
you'd be willing to send me ( and I have a dedicated to me only T1
line) I'd be grateful to spend times do a search of each song to try
to find a hit or match.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
I'm down to the last 3-4 songs that I can't find anything about. I
post every few years, hope for a hit, usually get a flame.
What the hell.

I did some searching. I looked through a lot of Bruce Springsteen's
lyrics and non matched.
I looked through Bob Dylan's lyrics on a hunch, non matched.
This time I got a hit for cast-iron songs and torch ballads. It was a
Bob Dylan album released some time ago (unsure when.) This looked
promising. So I checked the lyrics of each song and struck out.
I did remember something more about the song. It was about a teenage
boy and girl and the "affair" occurred during the summer. Then at the
end of the Summer she dumped him because he was too young, and the
song ends with something like "I was too young" or "I was 16" or "I
was too young, I was 16."
Please help me if you can. Else I really think I'm going to have to
see if a shrink can help me rip this song out.
