Aussie or England?

Hello all, I am hoping someone out there may know this one because I
have posted on two other sites and everyone is stumped. I heard this
one in Australia way back in the the late 60s or early 70s and it
sounds like a hermans hermits song.The words that I remember go as
follows..."Did you ever know what it is to..?" and leads into.."Well I
did one day, I remember evermore, that's the time I lost my (darling?)
and my heart and everything." I know most Hermans Hermits songs and
even checked out a lot of the B sides but to no avail, however it may
not be by them just sounds like their style. I suppose it could have
been an Aussie artist such as Johnny Young but I can't get a hold of
any lyrics to check. I would really appreciate any help in solving this
mystery.

Hi dickydoo, sorry that's not it, I do Know that one but thanks for
trying. I still am not certain of the artist but I know the lyrics I
posted are quite accurate and must be found somewhere in the song if
not the chorus. I'm wondering if it's called "did you ever know?" I
certainly don't lol. I'm beginning to think it may have come from a
various artists LP that I used to listen to on a small turntable with a
built in speaker (that was my state of the art stereo at the time).
anyhow I do appreciate the effort and hope all is well with you and the
family.
