An American writes on Posh and Becks move stateside: it seems that the
move may not be the success the British media thinks it will be...
"As with show business, where things are rarely as they seem, so with
David Beckham's spectacularly publicised move to America, which may be
less lavish in glitter and cash, and less fulsome in its welcome, than
first reports suggested.
Over the weekend, as Posh touched down at LAX to inspect property for
the family, it became clear that her husband's deal with LA Galaxy has
the potential, with sponsorship and T-shirt sales, to net him =A3128m.
But it is not guaranteed in his contract."
Guess it makes sense - would Michael Jordan moving to England suddenly
make basket ball more popular?

Yes. But only if he moved to England to play basketball. If he moved there
for another reason probably not.

Of course, had he moved to England, Jordan would have been heads and
shoulders above the competition in a way that Beckham will not be in the
MLS. I just don't see him standing out (and if he does, that will
reflect rather poorly on the league). Now someone like Zidane, with the
skills to keep the ball no matter what and just dribble his way around
would have been a different story (and despite being French I am *not* a
fan of Zidane).
