Pop queen Madonna faces being stood up at the Brit Awards - by her own
husband.

Film director Guy Ritchie is reportedly refusing Madonna's demand to
accompany her to the London awards show on Wednesday - even though the
singer is desperate to quash persistent rumours their marriage is in
trouble.

Ritchie's refusal has meant Madonna - who's nominated in the Best
International Album and Female categories - hasn't even been able to book a
table for the glitzy industry bash, so will only appear to either present or
collect an award.

A source tells The Daily Mirror, "There is a real power struggle going on.
She wants the whole world to see they're together, but Guy clearly has other

Who'd have thought that Madonna would get into a power struggle with an

"Like all relationships theirs is going through a bit of a bad patch, but he
doesn't see why he's got to pretend everything is OK just to keep her happy.

"He wants to deal with their problems in private and not put on an act for
the cameras. It's a game he's just not willing to play."
