Doesnt Oprah check out stuff before saying its good to go?? She has a
huge staff, couldnt someone make sure the story is true? I heard she

She said her staff checked with the publisher and they assured her the
story was true, had been look through by their legal department and
that they stood by it as a work of fiction.

The publishers are taking money from the public for the book so the
responsibility is theirs, not the responsibility of a book club that
simply discusses the book, but there's only so much even the publisher
can do.

Above all the responsibility is the author's. I would have thought the
author would have to sign a contract with the publisher standing by the
truth of what he wrote.

says she lets the publisher handle that sort of thing but if she is
going to make a author a millionaire shouldnt she make sure the story
is straight. JMO

Makes one question her honesty, principles and standards, doesn't it?
Perhaps her enterprise is "making money at all costs", after all.
