US rocker Tom Petty has cancelled almost 500 concert tickets issued to
fan club members, after they were resold for a higher price online.
The Refugee hitmaker's management and Ticketmaster took the decision
because they feared touts had specifically joined Petty's fan club in a
bid to obtain tickets and then sell them for profit.
Petty will be supported by Pearl Jam at his gigs in St Paul, Minnesota,
on 26 and 27 June.
Manager Tony Dimitriades says, "We don't claim to have completely
eliminated all reselling activity on these or any other shows.
"But this is definitely a step in the right direction and a major
strike on behalf of the good guys."

Except the bad guys got their money and the re-purchasers got screwed.

If the consumers lose confidence in the validity of the tickets,
they'll quit buying them and scalping will die.
