PorchMonkey4Life...
I've seen so many movies about the atrocities in africa that I'm a
little immune to the heartstrings angle that this film was going for.

The movie was a bit long and the story wasn't all that unique (e.g.,
another Africa is f*cked up picture). Leo mugged for the camera enough
to get an Oscar nod. Djimon acted like a docile african and Jennifer
COnnely was decent as a nosy judgmental reporter.

Yeah the amputations were a shame and the child soldiers were a pity but
I've pretty much seen this story before except it had bruce willis in it
and there were no diamonds just some church people that needed rescuing.

The pace was slow at times and was a bit too preachy. It was just
entertaining enough for me to not walk out of the theater. I had high
expectations for this film (being that Leo was starring in it) but the
film never quite met my expectations.

The moral of this movie: "Put De Beers out of business. Don't buy blood
diamonds because there is real human suffering behind it." Ok I get it.
But next time be more entertaining.

Hollywood's tireless leftwing crusade never ends.

More reason to hang yourself.

After you sir.

i rate this film as 2.5 stars out of 4.0 stars.

FWIW, Will Smith gave a more powerful performance in "The Pursuit of
Happyness", IMSOHO.
