Er, the BOOKS are still wonderful. The Disney movie was a travesty of
them. If Spielberg made a movie of the books instead of Disney-type syrup,
it might actually be worth doing.

Why? Because Hollywood has ran out of new ideas about 15 years ago, so
they have to recycle the old. Just think of the special effects they
could use! oooo--eeee!

Richard Eyre, the director of the London stage show of Mary Poppins, has
been approached by Spielberg to helm a new version of the 1964 Julie
Andrews-starring movie.
talked about it a lot.
"It will be hard to outdo the original but kids love the story and I'm sure
that the remake will be a real success."
