THE TomKat show splashed down in Sydney in a public show of solidarity and
fidelity ahead of today's state memorial service for Kerry Packer.

A beaming Tom Cruise arrived with his pregnant fiance Katie Holmes on his
private jet yesterday to help his friend of five years, James Packer,
through an emotional day.

The movie star also quashed US reports his engagement to Holmes was
labouring.

Cruise, 43, and Holmes, 27, accompanied Packer and Erica Baxter on the PBL
chairman's Carpe Diem (co-owned with stockbroker Matthew Csidei) as it
docked outside the Park Hyatt in the afternoon.

Cruise and Packer alighted for a brief meeting in the hotel foyer with
Roadshow Pictures managing director Graham Burke before returning to the
boat.

Cruise, about to star in Mission: Impossible 3, was at his charming best,
telling The Daily Telegraph "it's good to be back in Australia" and that he
was "thrilled and excited" about the upcoming birth.

The qualified pilot admitted he did not fly here as he was busy working and
attending to Holmes. Cruise posed with fans while Packer moved into the
background and Greg Norman left his lunch to board the boat.

Cruise also posed with Holmes, in what was another public display of
affection in a very public relationship of less than a year.

Packer's five-year friendship with Cruise grew through the Church of
Scientology in 2002 and Packer has described Cruise as one of "the world's
nicest guys".
