I guess you really don't like the early Beatles, then....

Byrds, Turtles or now, Matthew Sweet & Susanna Hoffs.

Doesn't he have a less grating voice later on?

This presupposes that all of us think his voice was EVER "grating": I -
for one - don't. But he does have some "sweeter" moments on such albums
as "New morning" and "Nashville Skyline" although he still wouldn't win
a contest against Nat "King" Cole...

Yeah it is. One of his best from that period.

"Modern Times" is really growing on me, now. I guess I like some older
Dylan covers okay, but for me the songs are so intertwined with the
vocal performances, especially lately, that I'm skeptical about anybody
else's ability to impress me with a rendition of one of his songs. I
know I can't sing them without imitating him, no matter how hard I try.
