When did this (later ruling) duke become knight of the garter. Honni

The Duke of Brunswick was made a KG 22.6.1878. He had been a GCH since
12.8.1815.

This order is a spinach Order, however perhaps not seen such in
England, Hanoveer

It was awarded rather lavishly, by the standards of the time, and thus
did not have a very high reputation.

Royal Family order and awarded more extensively in the British

Isn't "Nec aspera terrent" the motto of the Hanovarian (Geulphic) Royal
House? I suppose, he had a right to it from birth.
Several regiments in the British army awarded the "White Horse of
Hanover", use the same motto, along with that distinction.
