I don't really know what "kinsmen" of Dracula you encountered, but you
are distantly related to some "kinsmen of late Dracula".

Besides, Count Gudenus, I recently had the surprise to discover that
your family was a bit acquainted with mine - given the fact that my
grandmother was the dear niece of a lady who married a Thun &
Hohenstein (your great-grand-father attended the wedding of this lady's
parents, in Paris, on Nov. 18, 1901) ; this T&H monsieur had a sister
who married a Lobkowitz, while another sister of his married a
Podstatzky-Lichtenstein (and was the mother-in-law of Marie "Minki"
Kinsky von Wchinitz und Tettau).

This Monsieur v. Thun u. Hohenstein, his wife, and, sometimes, his
sister (the Lobkowitz princess) spent several quiet, relaxing weeks in
Roumania, enjoying countryside life in the Carpathians, hosted by their
Roumanian cousins (that included my great-grandparents).

Now I'll let you figure out the genealogical details.... Europe is
indeed small...

One thanks of the dropping of different names. Right or wrong one gets

Not right. Possibly , but just possibly, wrong.

the impresion that a Monsieur de /Count of Thun (1901 in Paris) is
considered to be one of one's great-grand-fathers.

What Radu Bogdan really wrote was that your great-grandfather attended
the wedding of a Thun, not that we was one himself. Usually, more
people than just the married couple itself attend a wedding, although I
agree that the couple and the priest is the bare minimum.

Unfortunately this is not correct. To figure out .., this task s
something for Monsieur Charenton.

May this gentleman hear your kind invitation!

I'm afraid you got it all wrong :)

As Jan B=F6hme correctly noticed, it concerned your great-grandfather :
he signed as witness / t=E9moin (Paris VIIIe) -- "Henri baron de
Gudenus, membre de la chambre des Seigneurs, 62 ans, domicili=E9 =E0
Vienne" -- on a certain marriage certificate I have a copy of, in 1901.

Paris VIIIe .. 1901 is to be found a certain marriage between .. and

Oh, come on, don't be that modest ! ....

You are the holder of information, details, dropped names

.=2E, said G was a witness. A lot of more information is to come. And so
what?

.=2E. (It had nothing to do with a Thun & Hohenstein : his marriage took
place later, in the 1920s.)

(But Heinrich Johann Baptist Ghislain Frhr von Gudenus married himself
a Thun & Hohenstein, didn't he ?...)

And again, it's not about name-dropping : it's about showing you that
those "Dracula kinsmen" you mentioned can be closer to you than you
imagine... ;-)

Additionally, it is of highly on-topic and very interesting.

By the way, I for one would also be interested to know anything further
about "Princess Irina Cantacuzin" and "Count Rodion Bogdan", if you
were able to discover anything relevant.

Regards, Michael
