It seems the last ennoblement in the German Empire occured on 12
November 1918 when Joseph Weissenberger, owner of the Bank in Dresden

bearing his family name and an Austrian consul-general, was ennobled by
the Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha with the title Baron von Weissenberger zu
Weissenburg. Does anyone know of any German ennoblements after this
date?

Was it published /promulgated in time? (Abdication Nov. 14, if you
believe the Gotha; after abdications further ennoblements may have
occured by the Head of the House[s]).
Did the ink of the signature ever dry?
The historical families anyway rarely accepted such ennoblement!

That's an interesting comment, but in fact, did it matter what those
families thought? They were not the sovereigns, and they too were (more
or less) all noble because they had been granted their nobility by a
monarch at some point.

Apologies that this reply to edespalais appears twice, I really did
press 'send' only once!

Since his English is seldom better than doubletalk at best, we all
understand why the machines found it necessary.

The fact to hold a LP was not a ticket to enter the families, their
oranizations, the estates. It can be said most LP were rather hidden
away untill such may have become usefull.

I had the SCG abdication as 13 November 1918 - the day after this
ennoblement, but elsewhere I see it variously as 14 or 18 or 23
November. Which one is definitive?

GHdA: still a "fascinating" Nov. 14. Fascinating, here introduced
by a black cowboy?

Yes, I'm aware of that. However, the reference sources frequently
cited for the abdication date of the Schwarburg principalities turned
out to be incorrect when compared with the original documents - I am
interested to know of any original sources for the SCG abdication date,
rather than quotes from fallible secondary material.
By the way, I used the word "fascinating". Is it not in your English
dictionary? The last time I looked in the mirror, I wasn't black, but
I don't see how that's relevant. I thought the Danes had better
manners that you exhibit - perhaps you missed out on that part of your
education.

One is not, were not a Dane. One thought you might have it to be a
Black.

One wonders whether the ennoblement of a banker by a
soon-to-be-unemployed Duke is merely a coincidence...

Fascinating - thanks Gilbert. Talk about getting in under the wire!
