In German roalty, would all great grandchildren of the soverign be

princes or princesses and also does that pass through the female line?

When titles were legal in Germany, one's rank was determined by one's
father. There may have been instances where there was such an

inheritance through the female line, but I am unaware of it. So far as I
know, a title from Imperial Germany would continue to pass down the male
line.

Most Germanic titles, followed the precepts of Salic Law, males only,
there may be one or two instances, where a female has been raised up,
but the title then descends to males infinitum! Thus in answer to the
original question, even the great great great great great great great,
and I could go on, descendents in the male line will bear a title. It
did become fashionable in the German Empire, to make the head of a
family a Prinz, but leave the others as Counts, Bismarck, Eulenburg,

Prinz, read "Prince" as translation of "F=FCrst". Bavaria did
not follow the Prussian way, even the cadets were F=FCrst; Austria,
Hungary acted as Bavaria. That includes the mediatized families (as
long as they were Bavarian citizens).

Hatzfeldt come to mind, but in Austria, this was not the case as far as
I am aware, unless you take the example of Hohenburg, Dukes, and the
others princes, but then again they were morganitic hapsburgs!

What about Dietrichstein von Nicolsburg/Mensdorff-Pouilly-Dietrichstein?

There was a Prinz Karl von Dietrichstein, a friend of the emporer
Josef, who was so created a Furst, but I think that the Princely line
has long been extinct.
