Today's Sun Herald (Sydney) contains the following item:
"A member of the Tongan royal family known as the "People's Prince" for
his efforts to bring democracy to the Pacific island nation has been
killed in a road accident in San Francisco.
Prince Tuipelehake, 56, and his wife, Princess Kaimana, 46, died when a
teenage driver who was allegedly speeding collided with their car. They
had been on a visit to discuss political reform with California's
Tongan community.
Prince Tuipelehake wanted Tonga's king to resign in favour of an
elected government."
Did the Prince really want the King to "resign" or is it a
factually-inaccurate way of indicating that HRH sought an end to the
Royal Family's autocratic rule? I note he was Chairman of the
Political Reform movement, as well as an MP.

Heard a brief report about this accident this morning on my way to
work...about 5 miles from my home. Had no idea the Tongan royals were
involved at that time. I had heard one vehicle and driver were still being
sought. There is a large Tongan immigrant community in this area, along
with a large Samoan immigrant community.
