Because Schaumburg was more important than mere paragia of the Lippe
lines. Ruling in 1/2 of Schaumburg elevated this line over the other
unfortunate Lippe lines.

Perhaps it would have been more appropriate to style "Graf zu Schaumburg
und zur Lippe" or later "Fuerst zu Schuamburg, Graf zur Lippe", but then
you notice that the Waldecks who added Pyrmont to their title, were very
often styled hyphenated. So in the end it did not matter much whether
you hyphenated or added the two parts of your name.
