King Charles Albert (1798-1849) was the son of Charles Emmanuel, Prince of Carignano (1770-1800). Who was his mother? Did he have any siblings?

I calculate that he was a fifth cousin once removed to his predecessor Charles
Felix through their common ancestor Charles Emmanuel I of Savoy. Was there a
closer relationship?

atsarisborn...
Charles Emmanuel of Carignano married Maria Christina, only child of
Karl, Duke of Courland, a son of Friedrich August II of Saxony (August
III of Poland). They had two children, Carlo Alberto and Maria
Francisca. The latter married the Archduke Rainer, a brother of Emperor
Franz.

The nearest Savoy common ancestor of Carlo Alberto and his cousin Carlo
Felice was Victor Amadeus II of Savoy and Sardinia, whose illegitimate
daughter Vittoria married her father's cousin, Victor Amadeus, Prince
of Carignano. However, their son, Luigi Victor, married Christina of
Hesse-Rheinfels-Rothenburg, whose sister, Polyxena, married Charles
Emmanuel III of Savoy and Sardinia and became the grandmother of Carlo
Felice, as Christina was of Carlo Alberto. So they were second cousins.

Thanks for this informative answer. Do you have dates for Maria Christina and
Maria Francisca?

Interesting that an illegitimate daughter was permitted to marry into the
legitimate line. Was this common practice, or was it perhaps because the
Carignano line was not reigning at that point?
