Peerage succession questions

bxzi...
There have been times when a grandson has succeeded his grandfather in
a peerage.

Two questions:

1) Has a grandson ever succeeded his grandmother?

Mario Glibic...
Sure - for example, the 2nd Earl of Longford inherited his title from his
paternal grandmother, for whom the peerage was created. Or William Murray, who
first succeeded his father as 4th Earl of Mansfield (1792 creation), and then
his grandmother as 3rd Earl of Mansfield (1776 creation) - both Mansfield
Earldoms were created for the same person, but with different remainders.

There are of course other examples (successions to suo jure baronesses etc).

2) Has a granddaughter ever succeeded her grandfather or grandmother?

Mario Glibic...
The present Lady Kinloss succeeded her grandmother. I'm sure there are other
examples, either with granddaughter succeeding, or a peerage being called out
of abeyance in favour of a granddaughter.
