This morning's Daily Telegraph (London) reports that the second-last
surviving KC, Sir Edgar Unsworth, has died.

In fact, it would appear that Sir Edgar was, at most, the third-last.
According to this morning's Daily Telegraph (London), Lord Hunter, a
retired judge of the Scottish Court of Session who died on 20 March
2006 aged 93, took silk in 1951. He had been born on 21 February 1913.
|
Appointed in 1951, Sir Edgar was sometime Attorney-General for Northern
Rhodesia. He was born 18 April 1906; made CMG in 1954, and knighted in
1961. He died 15 March 2006, just short of his centenary.
Lord Simon of Glaisdale (born 1911) is now the last remaining KC.

There have been no KC's since February 6, 1952. All King's Counsel
became Queen's Counsel on the accession of the new sovereign.
You meant to write that Lord Simon is the last living person to have
been appointed KC.

Indeed - thanks for clarifying my infelicitous wording.
